Our Education

In Ghana, due to poverty and social taboo many parents do not send their children (especially girls) to school, even though they recognize the importance of education. Very limited and poor infrastructure for education is another problem. Availability of qualified and skilled teachers is also a challenge that should be addressed along with above issues.

At Markaz, we believe that every individual (child and adult, both) has a right to get quality education, so that it can contribute as an active citizen for the development of the society/nation. A child gets it first education from its mother. Unfortunately mothers have not been very much recognized into our current education system. There are many women, who are denied the opportunity for education as child. An educated mother can do wonder in the life of her child and society too.

Investment in female education is viable for socially and economically development of any economy or society. A girl/woman can contribute a lot more than fetching water, cooking, cleaning and nursing for younger siblings to its nation’s economy and society at large. Issues like Child Marriage, Early Pregnancy and Prostitution cannot be addressed effectively without addressing issue of Education. That is why “Education for Girls” is always at our focal point.

Our Education Program area covers Tamale Metropolis and Gushegu District Assembly of Northern Region- Ghana.
